To whom it may concern;

We are the Jesus Medical Clinic in Haiti (JMCH) or Klinic Medical Jesus in Creole, a non-profit organization committed to the healing and cultivation of God’s love through accessible healthcare for the people of Haiti. This organization is made up of dedicated medical providers: physicians and dentists who share the mission to spread God’s will through missionary work.

Background
We are motivated by the successes behind past missionaries’ devotion and work in South Korea. In the 1880s-1890s, Missionaries Horace Grant Underwood and Henry G. Appenzeller came to Korea where they dedicated their lives to the growth of Korean society and Christianity. In 1885, an American medical missionary, Horace Allen, came to Korea and founded a hospital, named Severance Hospital in 1904 with the support of a generous American donor, Louis Severance, of Standard Oil. Since 1957, this marvelous hospital has been affiliated with Yonsei University College of Medicine and is now a part of the Yonsei University Health System.

With this history, we continue to be optimistic and hopeful for the future of Haiti. When we first started, the Jesus Medical Clinic in Haiti (Klinic Medical Jesus) was originally located next to Love and Hope mission center in Cité Soleil. Cité Soleil is an extremely impoverished and densely populated commune located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area in Haiti. Cité Soleil originally developed as a shanty town and grew to an estimated 200,000 to 400,000 residents, the majority of whom live in extreme poverty. The area is generally regarded as one of the poorest and most dangerous areas of the Western Hemisphere and it is one of the biggest slums in the Northern Hemisphere. The area has virtually no sewers and poorly maintained open canal system that serves as its sewage system.

Missionary Simon Kim has built Love & Hope mission center in Cité Soleil since the infamous and disastrous 2010 earthquake. In addition to the construction work, this mission center magnanimously commits to orphanage and local church support, intensive education curriculums (high school, vocational, nursing), Korean martial arts, and diverse artistic ministries to cultivate talents among individuals who can make a difference in Haiti. As the mission center was established in 2015, Missionary Kim’s work has become livelier, and the medical ministry for the long-awaited Haitian people began to ignite. As a result, in September of 2015, a passionate team of physicians and dentists shared the hearts that this medical ministry in Cité Soleil was more pressing and urgent than any other ministry held the Haiti Medical Conference, which led to the birth of Jesus Medical Clinic in Haiti.

We believe this is an important mission because most people in Haiti cannot afford to receive medical attention because they barely survive on minimal wages. Through the Love and Hope mission center in Cité Soleil, many short-term missionary teams from different churches and various organizations have united to provide medical and dental treatments to Haitians who need these services desperately

Urgent Issue
Unfortunately, the Love and Hope mission center and the Jesus Medical Clinic in Cité Soleil have been recently attacked, and all invaluable materials have been possessed by local gang members since the assassination of the former president.

In the midst of adversity, we have decided to continue and extend the offering of medical and dental treatments to Haitians at other clinics located outside of Cité Soleil. Currently, a 2-story medical clinic is currently being built in Canaan, Haiti and another in Korail (Koray), Haiti. These new sites will be opened in April of this year with an expected volume of about 300-400 patients daily, collectively.

As all medical equipment, supplies, and medications from Jesus Medical Clinic in Cite Soleil were taken by the gangs, these two new clinics are desperately seeking donations, including medical and procedure beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, EKG machines, echocardiograms, Doppler and ultrasound machines, x-ray machines, chairs, desks, IV poles and fluids, triage supplies, and various of IV and oral medications.
